The therapeutic effects up to 3 years of polychemotherapy with 3 to 6 drugs were compared. All patients had cavities and sputum positive on microscopy before treatment. 127 patients were included in the study, 34 patients received 3 later 4 drugs combined, 51 patients received 4 later 5 drugs combined and 42 patients received 5 later 6 drugs combined.
It was concluded:
1) Multiple drug chemotherapy for previously untreated patients of pulmonary tuberculosis showed excellent results. With the more the number of the drugs the more favorable results were obtained.
